Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Doro Care and Doro Compass?

Doro Care provides clinical treatment and coordinated support for individuals with psychosis and their families, currently available in NY, NJ and CT.

Both plans provide in-depth access to our team of experts regarding clozapine guidance and navigating complex mental health journeys.

Dr. Robert Laitman is a world recognized expert in clozapine management and treatment of schizophrenia and related brain disorders. Dr. Laitman is the Medical Director for Doro Mind and oversees the patient care that the team provides using the EASE model that he has developed for meaningful recovery.

How much do your services cost?

The cost of our services varies based on several factors, including the type of support you're looking for, your location, and your financial situation. We offer income-based financial support to help make our programs more accessible. To find out what pricing would look like for you or your family, you can fill out our short request form—someone from our team will follow up with personalized information and next steps.

Do you take insurance?

We don’t accept insurance directly, but we can provide superbills that you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Many of our members have successfully used out-of-network benefits or Health Savings Accounts (HSA) to help cover some of the cost of services. We're happy to guide you through that process and answer any questions along the way.

Can I work with Doro Mind if my loved one is refusing treatment?

Yes, and we understand how common and painful this is—many people with psychosis struggle to recognize they’re unwell due to a condition called anosognosia. Through Doro Compass, we support families directly—offering guidance, education, and coaching to help you navigate this complex situation. We’ll work with you to build communication strategies, reduce stress, and advocate for care for your loved one. You don’t have to wait for them to say yes to get meaningful support for yourself.

Can I continue seeing my current psychiatrist?

Yes, with Doro Compass we can coordinate and collaborate with a member's existing treatment providers, including their psychiatrist.

How often will I meet with the Doro Mind team?

The frequency of meetings varies based on a member's needs and the service tier. Typically, members start with more frequent visits (e.g. weekly) that can decrease over time as stability is achieved. In addition to the visits we also provide on-demand messaging through our Doro Mind app between visits.

Can family members participate in the services?

Yes, family involvement is a core component of Doro Mind's approach. We work closely with family members to provide support, education, and guidance.
